On the 9th of March 2007, Peter was a member of the official party at the opening of the Rotorua Energy Events Centre. The opening was performed by the Rt Hon Helen Clark and at the same time a commemorative plaque was unveiled by Witarina Te Miriarangi Parewahaika Mitere Harris, Granddaughter of Rotohiko Haupapa, and senior kuia of the Ngati Whakaue to acknowledge the fact that the land for the centre had been donated by the Ngati Whakaue iwi for the benefit of the people of Rotorua and of New Zealand.

The Caley Art Gallery was moved from Otira to Geraldine in October 2004 with an official opening performed by the Mayor of Timaru on Saturday 9th October
OpeningDinner Oct 2004
On the evening of 9th October 2004 a Marquee was erected in the Geraldine domain and a formal dinner and dance was held to celebrate the re-opening of the gallery in Geraldine.
